Announcements 8/24/14

1)  Game this Friday is at Chester County.  Itinerary will be available Monday.  Dress is the same as the last game.  The Band did a great job this past Saturday, and I look forward to adding the second movement this Friday!

2)  Memorization test this Wednesday during class over Movement 2.

3)  Remember to bring a change of clothes and water to be prepared to outside every day when we can.

4)  Seniors - I will have the applications available this week for the Division II State competition scholarships.  They will be due by October 1st, so make sure you get going on that if you plan on applying.

5) Try to have trailer sponsors by this Tuesday.  Trophy and program sponsors will still be taken throughout all of September.

5)  Due to safety concerns, it is required that every student ride the bus to a performance and back to the school on the bus.  In the past, I have tried to work with exceptions (funerals, etc.) but it got out of hand this weekend with too many students not riding back on the bus with us, especially at the last minute.  It makes it too easy to leave a student behind, and too difficult for myself and the chaperones who are calling roll on the three buses to keep up with who is supposed to and not supposed to be on the bus.  I do not want to put us in a position where we accidentally leave a student behind.

Drumline tuneup day

Percussion:  We are pushing our schedule back 30 minutes in the morning.  Don't report until 7:50, and we will not leave until 8.  Dr. Hill had already told Julie Davila and the percussion students not to show up for another 45 minutes, so we could not take Liberty's place.

Mid-Week Announcements

1) We need a driver for this Saturday's game to pull a trailer.  We will be loading the 4-wheelers that pull the Pit trailers.  We already have drivers to haul the big enclosed trailer, the box truck, and the Pit trailers.  We just need one more.  Just email me if you can do it.

2)  On Sponsors: I need the trailer sponsors by next Tuesday.  However, we can still accept program and trophy sponsors through the middle of September.  In fact, I can specifically take Trophy sponsors up until the October 18th event.  (First come, first serve on the trophy sponsors, though)

3)  A mistake on the calendar was pointed out to me this week.  I do not have rehearsals listed for September 2nd and 4th.  This is a mistake.  WE WILL have regular rehearsals on those dates.

4)  T-shirts that were ordered are now available.  Make sure they are paid for before you pick them up.

Announcements 8/10/14

1)  Booster meeting tomorrow (Monday) night at 6:30.  If you want to be informed of the ins and outs of this Band Program and learn how to be involved and participate, attend these meetings.  We want you to be there, if only to join in on the fun and corny jokes of a Booster meeting.

2)  Starting this week, we will have afterschool rehearsals EVERY Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 until the end of October.  These are graded rehearsals and are very important because it is the only time that Percussion, Band, and Guard are all together at the same time from now on.

3)  I need all T-shirt orders by Wednesday.  They are $10 a piece.

4) I need all Smart Cards or money by Friday.  I need either the cards back, or the money.  We have to give the cards that we don't sell back to the company or they charge us for them.

5)  Shoes orders will be this week.  We use the same marching shoes that were used at the middle school.  But if you have outgrown your old shoes or if they have gotten worn out, you need to get some new ones (or buy used ones from another band member).  New shoes will be $35 a pair.

6)  Report time for this Friday's jamboree is now 5:45 pm(it was originally 5:15).  Band T-shirts, Tennis shoes, Khaki shorts (do not wear shorts that are too short!).  No hats.  This is a graded performance just like Football games and Competitions.

7)  The First memorization test will be this Wednesday over Movement I during class.

Booster meeting

The booster meeting scheduled for next Tuesday will need to be changed due to the Open House they are now having at SGC that night.  We will be moving the meeting to the previous night Monday the 11th, at 6:30 in the Band Room.

And might I also add how impressed I was with the Band this afternoon.  We were 5 minutes late getting out of inservice today.  However, I was able to walk into the Band Room where the Band was already seated and ready to play and immediately begin the warm-up without any more time lost.  Not to mention the fact that the Guard was already practicing in the Cafeteria as I passed by on the way to the Band Room.  Thank you for being ready to play today!  Go Band!
