Announcements 3/23

1.  BBQ tickets need to be sold this week!  They are due Thursday.  This is our last fundraiser of the year, so let's make it count!

2. Color Guard workshops and auditions are this Monday through Thursday after school.  Bring comfortable clothing to practice in.

3.  All Band members are invited to the Rehearsal for 8th graders on Tuesday night from 6:30 to 8 pm.  We will be playing parade music and making the upcoming freshman feel welcome.  We have these rehearsals so that they are not as nervous as they enter the high school band next year.  Introduce yourself and get to know the future members of our band.

Friday, March 21, 2014

1:30 pm As you come into 4th block Band Class, load your instruments on the Band Trailer. Then get on the bus. This will be a tight squeeze – most will be 3 to a seat. Make sure you are dressed in Concert attire, AND have your music folder! Concert attire consists of button up shirt, khakis, and dress shoes. Ladies if you wear a dress, make sure that it is conservative dress, with no low-cut tops or short skirts. NO TENNIS SHOES!

1:45 pm Depart SGCHS.

2:15 pm Arrive at Liberty HS. Get everything off the bus, we will be taking a different bus home. Get your instruments off the trailer, put the cases back in the trailer. Stretch and do some breathing exercises while we wait to go into the warm-up room.

2:50 pm Line up to go to the warm-up room.

3:00 pm Warm-up. Tipps, Songs, Final Breathing exercises. Percussion, be ready to go onto the stage first to start setting up when we get permission.

3:20 pm Move to stage. Stay in your rows and move to the stage in an organized manner.

3:25 pm Perform for judges. American’s We first and then Pageant . Parents are welcome to sit in the audience and watch.

3:45 pm Move to Sight-reading room.

4:15 pm Load all instruments on trailer and head to Sparky’s. You will need to bring $7 for the buffet.

5:45 pm Load bus and depart for home.

6:15 pm Arrive SGCHS, unload trailer. Put all instruments in their proper place.

Annoucements 3/16/14

1)  Band Camp Dates!  Thursday, July 24 - Freshmen and Leaders only 7am to noon.  Friday, July 25 - Everyone 7am to noon.  Mon -Fri July 28 - Aug 1 Everyone 7 am to 4 pm (lunch 11:30 - 1).  Mon-Tues Aug 4  - 5 Everyone 6-8:30 pm.   School starts that Thursday Aug 7.  It will be a half day and we will not have rehearsal that afternoon.

2)  Concert Festival this Friday!  We will be taking a bus during the school day to get down there.  They need to wear Concert Attire!  We need to look nice for the judges.  We perform at 3:25 pm in the Liberty Tech HS auditorium.  You are welcome to come watch us - Admission is free.

3)  Spring BBQ sales start this week.  Tickets will be passed out Monday during class.  All tickets and money are due back Thursday, March 27.  Pick up date for the BBQ will be Saturday April 12 from noon to 2 pm.  The meat this year is being cooked by Reggie's BBQ!

4)  The Workshop and Auditions for the 2014 Color Guard are next week, March 24-27.  If you know of any young lady from 8th grade to 11th grade who might be interested in Guard, tell them they need to be here.  We are trying to increase our Guard numbers in order to better show off our talented Color Guard squad!

Announcements 3/9/14

1)  Band Booster meeting this Monday, March 10 at 6:30 pm.  

2)  Butter Braids will be delivered Monday afternoon.  Please make plans to pick them up sometime Monday afternoon so they can be put in freezers ASAP.

3)  Guard rehearsals begin this Tuesday, and will be every Tuesday and Thursday from now until the Strawberry Festival.

4)  We have a Band After school rehearsal this Thursday for Concert Festival!  This is our first afterschool rehearsal in a while, so don't forget to make plans to stay until 5:30 on Thursday.

5)  Congratulations to everyone who participated in Solo and Ensemble on Saturday! Everyone who participated got a medal by scoring either a I or a II.  Medals and judge's sheets will be passed out tomorrow.

Booster meeting

Since school is out tomorrow (Thursday), we will have to reschedule our Booster meeting.  I am looking at moving it to next Monday, March 10 at the same 6:30 time in the Band Room.

Announcements 3/2/14

1)  Solo and Ensemble Participants:  Our allotted time on Saturday is from 9:20 am to 10 am.  Try to get to Northside High School in Jackson by 9 am at the front entrance.  I will be there to help you find where you are supposed to go.  Remember to dress nicely since the judges can see you, and appearance is one of the judging captions.

2)  Band Booster meeting this Thursday at 6:30 am in the Band Room.

3)  Guard starts after school rehearsals this week.  It will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30.  You will be learning the routine for the Spring Parades.

4)  A huge shout out to the people who worked, and the Jazz Band that played at the Beauty pageant this weekend.  Everyone did a great job, had great attitudes, and helped raise a lot of money for the band.  Thank!  You!  (A special shout out to Anndrea Dyer for doing a flawless job of heading this event up this year!)
