Announcements 5/16/21

1)  I want to thank everyone for a great year this year!  We were so lucky to be able to have band class all year - something many programs in the state and in the country weren't able to do.  I am thankful that we stayed safe during the year.  Most of all, I am now more thankful than ever for what a "normal" year is.  Sometimes things have to be taken away to really appreciate what they mean to you.  Because of that, I am more excited about this fall than ever before!

2)  If you haven't brought your uniform back in from the parades, please get that done this week.

3)  Laundry detergent was delivered on Friday and is available for pickup starting Monday.

4)  It's time! Field Show music will be given out this week!  8th graders - your music is in the band room at the middle school.  Students who are not in class right now - come by the band room to get your music.  Everyone - this is your music.  Keep up with it, take care of it, we will be using this for the next few months.  Get a binder with page protectors or whatever it takes not to lose this music!

5)  Marching fees this year are as follows - Winds - $150, Percussion and Color Guard - $200.  If you can get half or all of it paid by the end of school, that would be awesome as we begin purchasing services and items for the field show.  Otherwise, it will need to be paid by the end of Band Camp.  Make checks payable to SGCHS.

6)  Our first rehearsals will be starting June 9 from 8 - 11 am.  If you are on vacation, don't worry about it, but try to make it to these June rehearsals if you are in town.

Announcements 5/9/21

1)  What a great job everyone did this past Friday!  You sounded great on Star Wars the entire route, and represented SGC in amazing fashion within the Mass Band.  Thank you for your hard work and resolve to make it down the parade route twice!

2)  Uniforms need to be brought back this week.  Guard, we need those uniforms back on Monday so that we can get them delivered with the rest of the mass band uniforms for storage until the Rose Parade.  Senior Band members, you can bring those uniforms in anytime this week.  Washing instructions on all uniforms - Use your normal detergent with cold water, no bleach. Let air dry.  It is okay to use stain remover if you need to.

3)  For those that signed up to play at the Baccalaureate service this Tuesday, it will be at Chapel Hill Baptist Church at 7 pm.  I will need you to report there by 6:30 wearing concert attire.  The service will last approximately one hour.

4)  Graduation is a mandatory performance for the Concert band class this Thursday.  Graduation is at the football field and starts at 7 pm.  Report to the Band room at 6 pm wearing concert attire.

Announcements 5/2/21

1)  Strawberry Festival week!  For your uniforms that we are wearing Friday, make sure that you have long black socks to wear.  We will make sure that everyone has shoes and gloves this week.  Also, a full itinerary for Friday will be posted later this week.

2)  We were originally planning on not taking buses on Friday, but now we are looking at having buses available to leave from the school and bring us back.  You can still find your own way there if you want.  I will put up a sign up sheet this week for everyone who plans on riding the bus.

3)  Laundry Detergent orders are due on Monday.

4)  The Candle orders have come in, and will be distributed to the students on Monday.

5)  The Band Awards Night is this Saturday at 6:30 in the gym.  Seniors will sit at tables on the gym floor with their families, and everyone else will sit in the bleachers with their families.  We ask that you dress up on this night to reflect on this past year and honor our graduating seniors.

6)  Students, we will be getting a special visit this Thursday during class from Robert Miller, the president of the Tournament of Roses Parade.  He will be flying in to see the students involved in the Mass Band and to see us at the Strawberry Festival Parade.  Plan on playing through the mass band songs during class as we welcome him to our school all the way from California!
