Announcements 5/19/19

1)  If you have not returned your uniform from the parades, you need to get those washed and turned in this week.  We are finalizing the inventory so that we can get them all delivered to the Middle School so that she can get them stored for the summer.

2) We will be playing our instruments on Monday as we look at next year's show music, but will not play on Tuesday.  

3)  Everyone, good luck on your exams this week.  We had a great year this year, and I want to thank you for all of your hard work and great attitudes from Band Camp all the way through graduation.  Band is a year-round performance group and you all brought your best every single time!

4)  Remember our first summer rehearsal on June 5 from 8 to 11 am in the Band room!

Announcements 5/12/19

1)  What a great weekend!  The Band did awesome at the Strawberry Festival, playing for thousands of people and representing the school and the Medina community with pride!  Thank you seniors for a great year!

2)  The Baccalaureate service is Tuesday at 7 pm at Chapel Hill Baptist Church.  I just need a few volunteers for this performance - one person per section to play the Alma Mater as the graduates come in at the beginning of the service.  If you sign up to play, please be at Chapel Hill at 6:30 to warm up and be ready to play right at 7 pm.  We will practice during class on Monday and Tuesday.

3)  Graduation is this Thursday at 7 pm at the High School Football Field.  This is a required performance, report time will be 6:30 pm, and please wear concert attire.

Friday, May 10, 2019

 8:45 am               Report to SGCHS Band Room.  Load equipment.  Put on uniform pants, long black socks, and shoes (make sure your shoes have your name on them).  Wear shorts and T-shirt underneath.  Put uniform jacket and gauntlets on a hanger to put on bus with your hatbox.

9:00 am                Depart South Gibson County High School.

9:30 am                Arrive at Bailey Park.  Get everything you need off the bus and equipment trailer!  They will be driving the end of the parade route as soon as we unload.  We will set up at our assigned warm up area.

10:00 am             Parade begins. We will warm-up and wait for our turn on the route.  On the parade route, be sure to represent the band and SGCHS with professionalism.  After you change out of your uniform, you may go back to the parade route to visit vendors and see the end of the parade.  If you are riding home please take your uniform with you and wash it.  Bring it back on Monday. 

Approx 1:30 pm                Report back to bus and depart Humboldt.

2:00 pm               Arrive back at SGCHS, unload instruments and uniforms.

Announcements 5/5/19

1)  Great job at the Teapot Parade on Saturday!  The band looked good, sounded good, and represented SGC and Medina with pride for the thousands of people that were there.  I can't ask for more!  

2)  Strawberry Festival Parade this Friday.  A full itinerary will be posted on Monday.  If you are not riding the bus, I will need another permission form signed by a parent/guardian.  Once again, I will communicate with the Parade chairperson about potential weather issues and will let everyone know if anything changes. 

3)  The Band Banquet is this Saturday at 6 pm in the Cafeteria.  I need everyone signed up by Wednesday so we have an accurate head count for the caterer.  The $10 per plate is also due this week.  Finally, get your pictures for the slideshow to brenden@sipesproductions.com ASAP so that he can get that together for the banquet!

4)  No afterschool rehearsals this week.  But remember that the Graduation next Thursday, the 16th, is a performance grade.
