Fruit Delivery

Fruit will be delivered Dec. 11. It will arrive at the High School at approximately lunchtime. I will be there until 6 pm. Please pick it up Friday so that it does not sit in the school all weekend and spoil. If you take it home and put it in your Refrigerator, it should be fine until the Christmas parties begin! See you Friday

Where to Meet

For the parade, we will meet at Soul's Harbor Baptist Church. This is just off the bypass on the right just north of Sonic. You can google it or mapquest it if you are not exactly sure where it is.

Dates

I was reminded that I had afterschool rehearsals on the calender for this Tuesday and Thursday. I have decided to cancel these rehearsals. Everyone is in the same class at the same time, and everyone has been working hard on the Parade music, so there is no need to have these rehearsals.

The next Band Booster meeting is this Thursday at 6:30pm in the Medina MS Band Room. I will be unveiling the Band Uniforms for next year, and we will be discussing fundraisers and voting in officers.

The Christmas Parade is this Saturday, Dec. 5. They need to meet downtown at 3 pm. I have pushed this back from the original calender time, as I have learned it will not take that long to set the parade line-up.

Haunted Farm Canceled

Any band member that had volunteered to work tonight's haunted farm needs to know that it has been canceled. Mr. Rogers called me this afternoon and told me that, in fact, all South Gibson work with the haunted farm has been canceled until further notice. Please forward this message to anyone who does not know.

Haunted Farm

I found out yesterday that SGCHS has been invited to help the Medina Lions club operate their Haunted Farm. Each Athletic group is getting one night to run the trail and get a chance to raise funds for the effort. The Band has been chosen to operate the trail Next Friday, October 23. There will also be a short training program for all volunteers this Saturday at 11:30 am. If you can spare an hour or so, please attend. Actually, all we have to do is show up and do what they tell you - they have already set everything up and organized it all.

This is last minute notice, I know, but it is a chance for this school and the band to start getting involved in the community. We need at least 10 volunteers for our night of Operation. Look for more details in the email I will send you shortly. See you there.

It's time for another Parent meeting. This one will be scheduled for Thursday, October 8 at 6:30 in the Medina Band Room. Monday Night

Hope everyone has gotten a chance to look at their calenders that I sent through the e-mail. If you did not receive one, please let your child know so that I can send one home with them. And again, please let me know ASAP if there are any conflicts with scheduled rehearsals or performances.

Note that the Report time for Monday night has been changed to 5:45. Other than that, we will follow the same schedule.

Fundraisers

We decided at the parent meeting that it was a good idea to go ahead and do the Fruit fundraiser starting at the end of October, and we wanted to look further into doing a fundraiser Golf Tournament next Spring. If there are any other smaller fundraisers that you think would work and would want to head up between now and then, please let me know. Also, check your emails for a detailed recap of the parent meeting.

Again, I want to apologize for accidentally scheduling the meeting on the same night as the JV Football game. That got completely by me when I originally scheduled this a couple of weeks ago. I am glad that you got to see them win again, though!

Please continue to keep in contact with me through my e-mail at prices6@k12tn.net.

Parent Meeting

There will be a parent meeting Tuesday Sept 8 at 6:30pm in the Middle School Band room. We will look at what we need to do to organize a booster club; I will give you dates for the semester so you can start making any necessary plans; We need to pick the best night for all of you to meet; and we need to brainstorm some fundraisers to do over the next few months.

Monday's JV Game

This Monday, Aug. 31 will have much of the same as last week: Same outfit, same place. I have moved the time to 5:30. Please be in formation and ready to play the warmup at 5:30.

Stands needed

Students, if you have any music stands that you could bring to school, such as foldable wire stands, please bring them to school with you and put them in the storage room with your instruments. We have not received our music stands yet, and will need to use these until we receive those.

Thanks! Mr. Price

JV Game Info

The game Monday night will be at 6:30 at the Medina Park. I will need the band to meet at the park at 5:15 to warm-up and run through the music. Band members need to wear tan-colored khaki pants, a black polo shirt, and tennis shoes. I am going to have some band button-up shirts ordered, but they will not be here by the first game.

JV Home Games

We will play pep songs at all JV Home Football Games this year, and the Star-Spangled Banner at some. The schedule is as follows:

Aug. 24 vs. Humboldt
Aug 31 vs. Trinity
Sept 14 vs. Scotts Hill
Oct 12 vs. Milan (all games start at 6:30)

You will notice that the first game is on the first full day of school. This will be a challenge, but I still want to perform at this game, which is one reason we are having the music camp. Also, I will have specific times, locations, and logistics as soon as I get all the information I need. For right now, though, keep these dates cleared on your schedule. Thanks, and I look forward to seeing everyone Monday night!
