Announcements 5/22/22

1)  The school will be doing a sendoff tomorrow for three groups that are headed to the Spring Fling State Tournament - the Baseball Team, the Soccer Team, and three Track and Field students.  It will happen at 2 pm, and we will play a couple of our standard pep tunes and generally make some noise for these groups.  I realize that some of you will not be in school due to being exempt for exams, but you are more than welcome to come in and join us at 2 pm if you can.

2)  If you have not brought your uniform back yet, we need to get those in so that we can do the uniform inventory for this fall marching season.

3)  See you in a couple of weeks at our first Summer rehearsal on June 8 (June 7 for percussion).  Remember that you need to attend at least 2 of the 4 June rehearsals, and really at least 1 of the first 2. This helps us solidify the final exact numbers as the drill starts being written.   If you can make it to all four, that puts you even further ahead of the game!

Announcements 5/15/22

1)  We will be looking at Field Show music this week.  Maybe even... starting to memorize it?!

2)  Bring your uniforms back!

3)  Thank you to the students who volunteered for the NHC Parade and gave up some of their time on Saturday.  We haven't been able to do that the last couple of years, but it's always something that is so rewarding to do.  You brought joy to every resident and worker there!

Announcements 5/8/22

1)  Tuesday night is the Baccalaureate service for those who volunteered.  If you signed up, plan on being at Chapel Hill Church by 6:30 pm in Concert Attire.  There will be a door on the side of the church close to Chapel Hill Rd that we will enter in to store cases.  It begins at 7 pm and will done around 8 or 8:15.  We will play the Alma Mater while the seniors walk in, and that music will be passed out on Monday.

2)  Thursday is Graduation.  Be at the school by 6 pm wearing Concert Attire.  We will be on the field playing and will stay on the field until the end of the ceremony.  It begins at 7 pm and will be done around 8:15 or so.

3)  Saturday is the "parade" for the NHC Healthcare Center in Milan.  I encourage everyone to try to come to this (including seniors if you want) because it is for such a good cause.  These residents are physically unable to attend the local parades, so the administration there at NHC puts on a parade just for them with floats, groups, and bands.  We are the only band that is able to be there and perform for them, so I really want to bring the joy of being at the parades to them!  We will not wear uniforms, just wear comfortable clothing in South Gibson colors.  We will meet at the Ceco Door Products parking lot at 9:30 am.  The parade will begin at 10, and will be done around 11.  We will not have a bus so you will need to find a ride there.  I also need one parent to pull the small band trailer for percussion instruments and large instruments.  Let me know if you can pull the trailer.

4)  Please wash your uniforms and bring them back this week (especially Seniors!).  Use cold water, regular detergent with no bleach, and hang to dry.

Announcements 5/1/22

1)  The Strawberry Festival Parade is this Friday.  A full itinerary will be available on Monday, but it is the same schedule as the Teapot Parade.   And once again if you see any water on sale go ahead and get some and bring to the band room for the parade.  And any water we don't use on Friday we can have for the summer!

2)  The Band Banquet is this Saturday at 6 pm for those that signed up to go.  It will be held a the Thomas D Dunlap conference center in Humboldt (the old hospital).  Turn in your $12 this week if you haven't done so yet.  We don't have a theme, we just ask that you come dressed up for a formal event as we look back on and celebrate a great year for the SGC Band!

3)  Band Booster meeting this Tuesday at 6:30 in the Band Room.  We will be finalizing plans for the Band Banquet, discussing opportunities we have for community performances the next couple of weeks, and looking forward to the summer and fall.
