Smart Cards

We are selling Smart Cards again this year as our first fundraiser!  This is a $20 discount card that has lots of small coupons to stores and restaurants in the Madison/Gibson County area.  Just using the Sam's Club coupon to start or renew a membership is worth it.

Here are some incentives for sales:  Every 10th smart card sold belongs to the student.  They can either keep that card for the coupons or sell it to keep the $20.

Also, the top seller gets $50 cash, 2nd and 3rd place get $25 each, and 4th through 13th best sellers each get $10 cash.

This fundraiser will go from now until August 14th.  Every student started out with 5 cards - if you need more just come to the Band office.

Band Camp announcements

1)  7 AM in the BAND ROOM.  In your seat, no instruments.  We will have announcements, then introduce the 2014 Camp Staff, then go outside.

2)  Lunch is on your own from 11:45 to 1 pm. You can either bring your lunch and eat in the cafeteria or go somewhere off campus and eat.   Be in your assigned room with your instrument and music ready to play at 1 pm.  On Monday, you will need to bring a chair and stand to the room with you, then they can stay in there the rest of the week.

3)  Water/Gatorade, Coordinate cards, T-shirts (must have sleeves), shorts, shoes fit for marching (no flip flops), sunscreen, music, instrument.

4)  If you have not finished paying your Marching Band fees, you need to either finish paying them or at least pay the second payment this week.  I need to be able to pay the staff this week!  I can only do this if every pays at least that 1st and 2nd payment on the schedule.

5)  We will be starting our first fundraiser tomorrow.  Smart Cards!  I will send more info out tomorrow in a message specifically about this fundraiser.

6)  Tomorrow's fun theme is Bandanna day.  Wear any kind of Bandanna you want.

Band Camp Friday instructions

1)  Everyone needs to meet at the practice field at 7 am ready to do the stretch routine.  You will need coordinate cards (they are in your cubby), water/gatorade, the stretch routine sheet if you need it, and the "Traffic" warm-up sheet.  Remember, be on the field at 7 am and not in the band room or just arriving.

2)  If you have not given me your T-shirt size, make sure you do it as soon as you get there tomorrow morning.

3)  The DCI bus is leaving at 1:30.  Please be on the bus by then.  You will receive your ticket when you get on the bus.  You will need money for supper and any souvenirs you want to buy.  Never travel alone once we get there - always have at least one buddy to stay with.  You are encourage to go to the parking lots to watch the Corps warm-up, just remember Destiny's corps is marching at 7 pm sharp.  As soon as the show and awards presentation is over we will meet back at the buses where they parked when we arrived.

Announcements 7/20/14

1)  It is time.  Percussion and Guard report this Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 to 11:30 am.  Freshmen and Leaders are Thursday from 7 am to noon.  And EVERYONE joins the fun this Friday from 7 am to noon.  The most important things you need are sunscreen, water and gatorade, a pencil, and the right kind of clothes for hot weather (but no flip flops or sandals.  And ladies shirts must have sleeves).  Rain or shine, Band Camp is here!

2)  The DCI trip is this Friday.  I have the tickets and will hand them out as we board the bus Friday afternoon at 1:30 pm.  For the handful of you who are driving, you will need to sign the tickets out at the Band room sometime this week.  You will need to bring money for any kind of souvenirs and to eat supper there at the stadium. Also, I have a handful of extra tickets in case any one has decided they want to join us this Friday.  First come, first serve on those.  $25 for the ticket, and $25 for the charter bus ride.

3)  Upperclassmen who use the DrillbookNext app, I have uploaded the show.  I have not input individual names yet, but will get that done this week.  Freshmen, you will find out about this app on Thursday.

Announcements 7/13/14

1)  Freshman Orientation has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 5 at 6:30.  I will reschedule our rehearsal for 3 to 5 that day.  We need to go ahead and have that rehearsal since we are not having one that Thursday.

2)  Final Summer Rehearsal this Wednesday.

3)  Leadership team workday this Thursday at 9 am.  Be ready to work.  We will be lining off the field, cutting and laminating Coordinate Cards, making Drill and Score folders for Leaders and Band Camp Staff, and whatever else we need to do to get ready for Band Camp!

4)  Thanks to the parents who came out this weekend to rebuild the sound system.  It is much appreciated by anyone who will be moving it this year!

Announcements 7/6/14

1) Parents, we are looking for a few men or women to help do a small building project this Saturday, July 12.  We have finalized the design for the new Sound cabinet and will need to cut the metal, weld it, maybe cut some wood for the shell, and throw a layer of paint on it.  If you are willing/able, we will be meeting at the Rogier Construction shop starting at 9 am.  It shouldn't take terribly long since this is the only thing we are building this year.  Let me know if you can help.

2)  The next summer rehearsal is this Wednesday, July 9.  Same schedule as the rest of the rehearsals.  These have been going great so far, let's keep it up!

3)  The Leadership team will meet at the Band Room this Tuesday at 10 am.  I will feed you lunch.

4) The next Booster meeting is this Thursday at 6:30 pm in the Band Room.  We will need to start preparing for the first couple of football games since they are away games.
