Announcements 7/28/19

1)  Remember the rehearsal this Tuesday from 7-9 pm.  We will be at the practice field except for the Front Ensemble, who will be inside working hard on Part 2.  Also, I will be there by 5:45 so that any section leader who wants to have a sectional beforehand to review sets or music before the rehearsal may do so.

2)  I want to thank everyone again for a great week of Band Camp last week.  The parents who took care of the lunch for the staff all week - it was always plentiful and delicious!  The students worked hard, had great attitudes and were always where they were supposed to be when they were supposed to be there.  I cannot ask for more!

3)  I am continuing to figure out how to use the new Band app.  It has been a great resource so far.  We will definitely be talking about ordering decals and signs for those who want them based on the interest shown through the chat from the app.  As I learn how to organize conversations and how to better utilize all of the options for the app, I believe it can become an even more useful tool than even the chat and calendar functions that we already use.

Announcements 7/21/19

Band Camp week is here!  Be sure to get plenty of rest, eat right, and stay hydrated.  This is such an important week to get a lot of work done so that we are as prepared as we can be starting the year.  Remember that our first performance of the year is the second week of school at the Jamboree, so we need everyone there this week.  We get so much done this week that it is so hard to catch up if you miss.

Although there will be a lot of work to be done this week, the leadership team will help bring the fun as well!  They have arranged some theme days to help keep the week a blast. Here are the theme days for the week:

Monday - Manic Mismatch Monday.  Treat it like a normal Monday where you leave the house not knowing that your socks don't match and neither does anything else.

Tuesday - Tie-Dye Tuesday.  Come up with your most tie-dye of tie-dye outfits to show off your bright colors.

Wednesday - Hawaii/ Water Wednesday.  Wear your favorite Hawaii outfit.  BONUS - from 4-5 pm after Band Camp, we will have our water day with slip-n-slide, water soccer, water balloons, and other activities.  Have your swimsuit ready if you want to join in the fun.

Thursday - Throwback Thursday.  Wear your old band T-shirts or just throwback to your favorite decade outfit.  BONUS - From 6 to 9 pm that night in the cafeteria, we will have game night.  You can bring your favorite board games and snacks and we will have a fun time.

Friday - Section Spirit Friday.  Wear anything that helps your instrument section shine.  BONUS - There will be a Pool Party that night after Band Camp.  Details to follow this week.

See you on Monday at 7 am at the practice field!

Announcements 7/14/19

1)  Schedule for the week for students: Monday - Leadership teams meets at 9 am.  Tuesday - All Percussion and Guard will have a rehearsal from 8-noon.  Wednesday and Thursday - Freshmen and Leadership team will have a preparatory camp from 8-noon to get the freshmen ready for Camp.  Friday - Everyone will have camp from 8 am to 4 pm with lunch on your own from 1:45 to 1 pm.

2)  We will have a booster meeting on Tuesday night at 6:30 in the Band Room.  We will have New York trip updates, start our first fundraiser toward the trip, and will get everything ready for Band Camp and the first few days of school.

3)  Prepare for band camp - we encourage you to bring your own cooler with ice, water and gatorade (water to hydrate and gatorade to replenish elecrolytes), always be ready to start in your spot at the specified time (not just arriving at the school at the time), wear something on your head (hat, towel, old T-shirt), bring sunscreen.  Shirts must have sleeves even though they may be rolled up.  With all of the marching and physical activity, make sure you wear comfortable shoes that won't give you blisters.  Eat a healthy breakfast and get plenty of sleep every night.

Announcements 7/7/19

1)  Parents who are interested in helping build the props for this season: We are meeting Monday night, the 8th, at 6:15 pm at the Band Room to start planning and building.  Anyone interested can come on out and join us!

2)  Guard members: since we have received more flag choreography, our Guard coach has requested a bonus rehearsal for this Thursday, the 11th, from 8 am to noon.  I will treat this like a June rehearsal, where if you can make it, come on out and get a head start on next week.  We will be in the cafeteria.
