Summer Rehearsals

Summer Rehearsals this year will from 6 to 8 pm. We will use the time to start getting in shape for the marching season, start looking at and memorizing some of the music, and let the incoming freshman ease their way into the program. As from last year, I am asking that the students make it to as many as possible, but if you already have concrete plans that you cannot get out of, I completely understand. There are only going to be 4 rehearsals:

Tuesday, May 31
Tuesday, June 14,
Tuesday, June 28,
Thursday, July 7.

Band Camp

Band Camp this year will be:

July 18th-22nd - Everyone from 8 am - 5 pm. Lunch will be from 11:45 to 1. They will need to provide their own lunch.

Marching Band fees:
Band - $150
Percussion - $175

I am asking for those that can, please pay a deposit of 50% by the end of the school year so that I can go ahead and start paying to get the drill written, T-shirts ordered, etc.

Band Banquet

Hello Everyone,

Be prepared for a flurry of info over the next few days as we prepare for the end of the year and the beginning of next year!

The Band Banquet is next Friday, May 20 at 7 pm in the SGCHS Cafetorium. Dress will be formal. SGCHS Band students are free, but all other guests are $12 (12 and under are $10, infants are free). I have a sign-up sheet in the band room for all the students to fill out. Please remind them to sign up for themselves and all their guests. Also, you can let me know how many guests are coming so that I can double check with their sign-up sheet.

Please try to have the money in by Tuesday, May 17.

Also, if you have any pictures you would like to include in the slideshow during the meal, please make sure Maggie Walgren receives those pictures.

Announcements 5/3/11

Hello everyone. Here are some dates and other announcements to keep you up to date on what we are doing in the next week.

Thursday, May 5 - Band Booster meeting. We will be discussing the Band Banquet, the Golf Scramble and a few other things for the next month.

Friday, May 6 - Strawberry Festival. Band will report at 7:45 am to the Band Room. They need to wear T-shirts, shorts, long black songs and their marching shoes. We will eat lunch at the parade after we get through performing, so they need to bring some money for that. We will arrive back at the school around 2:00. If they are going to be riding home with their parents after the parade instead of with the band, I will need a signed note by the parent.

Monday May 9 - Wednesday May 11 after-school - Drum Major clinic and auditions. Open to any band member currently in 9th-11th grades. It will be $30 to attend the clinic and the audition.

Tuesday, May 10 afterschool - Drumline auditions. Open to any percussion member currently in 8th - 11th grades. They already have the audition materials. I will be looking for 4 bass drums, 3 snare drums and a Quad player to fill next year's Drumline needs. I will also need 8 - 12 people to fill the Front Ensemble for next year's show.

Thursday, May 19 during school - Leadership interviews. Any band member currently in 9th - 11th grade can pick up the application. I will need the application and all materials associated with it turned in by May 18.

Friday, May 20 - Band Banquet

Due to the rain and potential flooding, I have decided to cancel the rehearsal planned for today, Monday, May 2. The Guard will have a make up afterschool rehearsal on Thursday, but the Band will do the work during class this week.
