1)  I want to thank everyone for responding to the calls for donations for the upcoming marching season!  We now have all of the lumber needed for building the props.  And we have 150 cases of water coming that is being donated to the band!  Once again, I am amazed at the wonderful Band Booster organization that we have at SGC!

2)  Our 3rd June Rehearsal will be this Wednesday.  Remember to put in your practice time so that these rehearsals will be even more productive and we can start the year at full speed!

3)  As we begin to look toward July and Band Camp, here are a few reminders to prepare for the heat - Water and Gatorade; Sunscreen; Get acclimated to the heat (spend time outside this summer); Breakfast is important (but be careful about what you eat for breakfast); Frogg Toggs and other items like it to keep your body cool are a great investement (so are Camel Packs).

Announcements 6/9/19

1)  Our second June rehearsal is this Wednesday from 8-11 am.  Last week went great!  Continue to work on your own with the music and the marching fundamentals we worked on.  Recordings of the music can be found on southgibsonband.blogspot.com (you have to view the web version of the web site on a mobile device.

2)  It's never to early to bring water to the band room.  If you ever see water on sale, I encourage you to pick up some and deliver it to the band room so that we always have a supply for the students to use throughout the marching season.

3)  Later this summer we are looking at building our props for the field show.  Right now we are looking for donations of 2x4 lumber, 1/2 inch plywood, and screws to build to the props.  If you know of an individual or a business that would be willing help us out with this, please let me know!

Announcements 6/2/19

1)  Our first June rehearsal will be this Wednesday from 8-11 am.  This is Band, Guard, and Percussion all at the same time.  Dress comfortably and bring your instruments and music.  I also recommend that you spend some time outside while it is hot so that you can be ready for the heat come July.  Even it is just sitting outside and reading a book.  Or maybe you can even mow the yard (you're welcome, parents).

2)  Leadership team will be meeting on Monday at 2 pm in the Band room.  It will last about an hour and a half.

3)  Booster meeting this Thursday at 6:30.  We will be talking about Band Camp, props, and the Hornet Invitational.  Freshman parents, this is a great time to get introduced to the Band Parent organization before things get busy in the fall.  See you there!
