Booster meeting Jan. 3

I hope everyone is enjoying your break!  As we get ready for school to start back, I want to encourage everyone to make it to the Booster meeting next Thursday, Jan. 3 at 6:30.  You might have received an email about the mattress fundraiser that we are doing on January 26.  This is a new fundraiser we are trying this year that should be pretty easy on our part.  We simply have to get the word out to everyone and the fundraising company will take care of the rest.  I will only need a handful of student workers on January 26 at the event that will work in shifts.

As far as the booster meeting, the fundraiser representative is going to be there Thursday at the booster meeting and will the company will give a monetary donation to the boosters for every parent that is in attendance.  Just by showing up, you will help out our account as we go through the spring and start preparing for next year.

More information will come next week as school starts back!  Enjoy your weekend!

Announcements 10/14/18

1)  Thank you!!!!!! To everyone who worked at the 2018 Hornet Invitational.  It was a huge success and it is because of the hard work of the students and parents.  Everyone represented the school and band well and I got nothing but compliments from the directors and judges about the hospitality they received.  The entire event ran like a well oiled machine and I am so lucky to have such a great group of parents and students.

2) If there are any parents who could come by the school this week during class (1:30 to 3:00), I would like to get students measured for uniforms this week.  Also, I would like the concessions drinks to get inventoried by Tuesday so that we can have an accurate count on how many drinks we used Saturday.  That is something we can do after school as well.

3)  Report time for the home game this Friday's home game is 6 pm.  If you didn't take your uniform home Saturday, take them home this week and wash them before Friday especially since they got wet Saturday.

Announcements 9/16/18

1)  I want to congratulate the Field Commander on his 2nd place trophy this weekend and the Color Guard on their 3rd place trophy.  Obviously it was a very competitive class with top notch bands and these awards were well-earned!

2)  As you practice this week, learn the parts around you and how your part fits in with the rest of the band.  A great resource is to get the recordings that are found on the side of southgibsonband.blogspot.com and listen to them over and over.  Learn everyone else's part this week!

3)  Drumline will have rehearsal Monday from 3:30 to 4:30.  Not Front Ensemble, just the drumline.

4)  Report time for Friday is 6:00 pm.  If you took your uniform home to wash, make sure it is back by Friday.

5)  On Saturday, the morning rehearsal will begin at 8:30 am.  A full itinerary will be posted on Monday.  This will be an all day event.  It is actually two events at the same location, not a prelims-finals event like last week.  Also, we are going to need a few more packs of water for this weekend.  We have done a great job keeping the students hydrated with all the water that has been donated.  With temperatures where they have been and with the number of students involved in this band, we go through the water quickly!

6)  The second shirt orders should be in this week.  I will let you know when they come in.
