Afterschool rehearsal for today (Thursday, Aug. 31) has been cancelled due to impending weather.  I ask that students take their horns home with them and practice Movement 5, especially those with the Soli sections.  Drive safe!

Friday, September 1, 2017

 

5:00 pm – Report to Band Room.  Attire is Band T-shirt and Khaki bottom.  No hats.  Use Restroom and load up on to your assigned bus.  Chaperones will call roll.

5:30 pm – Depart SGCHS.

6:30 pm – Arrive at Bolivar’s Stadium.  Leaders will unload the cases.  Get your instrument case and line up.  We will march in with cases and unpack when we get to the stands. 

7:00 pm - Game Begins.  Pay attention to the game, cheer for the team, act in a professional manner.  Be ready to play pep songs at any time.  NO CELL PHONES!  During the 3^rd quarter, you will be able to get concessions. 

9:45 pm - Approximate end of game.  Line up and march back to buses.  Take your instruments to the truck to be loaded and then load the buses.

10:30 pm - After all equipment is loaded and students are on their assigned bus, we will depart.

11:30 pm – Arrive at SGCHS.  After instruments are put up properly, you will be dismissed as a group. 

Announcements 8/27/17

1)  Away game at Bolivar this Friday night.  Report time will be 5 pm and we will depart at 5:30.  Attire will be the band T-shirt and Khaki bottoms.  A full itinerary will be posted on Monday.

2)  Design team will meet on Tuesday at 6:30.  

3)  The Band Room will be open Monday for anyone in Band or Guard who wants to come in and practice at any time between 8 am and 3 pm.

Announcements 8/20/17

1)  The band will not be traveling to the game at Franklin Road Academy this Friday.  Everyone is welcome to go watch the game on their own.

2)  Percussion students will meet at 7:30 am on Saturday to attend the UTM Drumline Tuneup Day.

3)  Design team will meet Tuesday at 6:30 pm.

Friday, August 18, 2017 @ SGCHS

 

6:00 pm – Report to Band Room.  Front Ensemble will hook up trailers, Drumline will take stands to stadium. 

6:10 pm – Warm-up.  Run through National Anthem.

6:45 pm – March to the 4 arcs on the Football Field for National Anthem.  Take your lyres with you.  The Band Room will be locked.  You need to take any money you may need for the 3^rd quarter with you.  Leave your cell phones either in the Band Room or with a parent.  Cell phones are not allowed in the stadium when you are with the band! 

6:52 pm – Play National Anthem, then line up for the Fight Song.

7:00 pm - Game Begins.  You will get the 3^rd quarter off to eat, drink and visit friends and family. You must be back and ready to play at the end of the 3^rd quarter.  Anyone late will owe pushups.  Remember during this time that you are still representing the band and the school.  Remain professional.

9:30 pm - Approximate end of game.  We will line up and march back to the band room.  Dismiss after all equipment is put up properly.

Announcements 8/13/17

1)  Home football game this Friday.  Report time is 6 pm.  Wear your white T-shirts and khaki bottoms.  A full itinerary will be posted Monday.

2)  The Design Team will not meet this week, but will meet next Tuesday at 6:30 pm.

3)  Smart Cards and money need to be in by This Wednesday.

Jamboree vs. Peabody

Friday, August 11, 2017 @ Peabody HS

5:30 pm – Report to Band Room.  Make sure you have your flip folders and lyres.  You will be wearing your Band T-shirts, khaki bottoms, and tennis shoes.

5:50 pm – Load buses.

6:00 pm – Depart SGCHS

6:30 pm – Arrive at Peabody High School.  Chaperones will depart the bus first.  Percussion and Leadership Team will depart second and begin unloading the trailers.  The rest of the Band and Guard will then depart when told by the director.  Find your case and line up in two lines to enter the field.  We will take the instruments out of the case once we get inside.

7:00 pm – Varsity Game Begins.  Be ready to play pep music.  Remember during this time that you are still representing the band and the school.  Remain professional.  NO CELL PHONES!

7:45 pm - Approximate halftime.  We will perform first.  Peabody will perform second.  After we perform, we will watch the rest of the Jamboree.  Front Ensemble will load pit trailers and instruments on the percussion trailer.

9:00 pm – Approximate end of Jamboree.  Put your instruments in your cases and get in the two lines to exit the field. Put your cases by the trailer to be loaded by the leadership team and then load the bus.

10:00 pm – Arrive at SGCHS

Approx. 10:15 pm – We will dismiss as a group when everything is put up. 

Announcements 8/6/17

1) I am extending the Smart Card deadline for one week. They will now be due next Wednesday, August 16.

2) The Jamboree will be this Friday at Peabody High School. We are performing and will be wearing Band T-shirts and Khaki bottoms. We will leave at 6 pm. A full itinerary will be posted on Monday.

3) Extra T-shirt orders for students and Family/Friends can be placed this week only. They will be $12 per shirt. I have a sign-up sheet in the Band Room, but you can also email the sizes to me if that is a better option. I need these sizes by Thursday.

4) Design team will meet Tuesday at 6:30 pm.

5) We are going to need parents with trucks to help pull three trailers this year. We have the two enclosed Band trailers that will need pulling, plus we will need an open trailer (anywhere between 10 and 16 feet) to haul other equipment to the site and on the field at performances. If you can do this, please let me know.

Wednesday and Ad Form

On Wednesday, you will not need your instruments.  You will also not be able to come to the band room in the morning - all students will need to report to the gymnasium first thing Wednesday.

Also, Anyone that is planning on purchasing an ad in either the SGC Football Program or the Preview section of the newspaper can bring their ad form/payment with them Thursday afternoon when the photos are taken.  I will have the ad form available on Wednesday.
