Announcements 3/31/19

1)  Guard practices start this Tuesday and Thursday for the upcoming parades.  Practices will go from 3:30 to 5 pm.

2)  Jazz Band will rehearse on Tuesday.

3)  This Thursday evening is the Fall Kickoff Booster meeting.  At 6:30 in the Band Room we will be handing out forms for next year, meeting the upcoming freshmen parents, and revealing the 2019 Field Show.  If you can make it, I highly encourage you to be there as this is an exciting time for the students (and parents) to get pumped for the coming year!

Announcements 3/17/19

1)  The Chamber Ensemble Concert is Tuesday at 7 pm in the Gym.  Report time is 6:30.  Concert attire.  This has become my favorite concert of the year because the students have so much ownership in the music.  You are going to hear music chosen by the students themselves, and in some cases written by the students.  

2)  Jazz Band will go ahead and practice Tuesday from 3:30 to 4:30.

3)  Right now, the Butter Braid pastries are on schedule to be delivered on Wednesday at 1 pm in the Band Room.  I will let you know if anything changes.  Please have a plan set up to get the Butter Braids picked up or taken home after school.  They need to be put in a freezer by that night so they don't start thawing.

Announcements 3/10/19

1)  The 2019 Color Guard Clinic and Auditions are this week.  Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30.  Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:00.  

2)  Jazz Band will rehearse Tuesday from 3:30 to 4:30.

3)  I want to thank the Band members for a great performance on Friday at Concert Festival.  You played some very difficult music and you played it great!  We got lots of compliments from other band members and directors that were there, and of course the parents that gave up their time to come up there were treated to some awesome music!  Thank you for your hard work.  Now let's get ready for our concert that's in a week and a half.

Butter Braids due

In order to get Butter Braids delivered by March 20 before Spring Break, the orders need to be turned in tomorrow (Friday) morning.  If you haven't turned them in yet, get them to the Band office before 1st block starts.

Friday, March 8, 2019

12:00 noon         Everyone will eat first lunch, then report to the Band Room. Load your instruments on the Buses.  Make sure you are dressed in Concert attire, AND have your music folder!  Concert attire consists of button up shirt, khakis, and dress shoes.  Ladies if you wear a dress, make sure that it is conservative dress, with no low-cut tops or short skirts.  NO TENNIS SHOES!

12:30                     Depart SGCHS.

1:30 pm               Arrive at UTM.  Unload the bus and trailer.

2:00 pm               Line up to go to the warm-up room.

2:20 pm               Warm-up. Percussion, prepare to go to the stage first to set up when we get permission.

2:45 pm               Move to stage.  Stay in your rows and move to the stage in an organized manner.

2:55 pm               Perform for judges.  Miss Trombone first and then Satiric Dances.  Parents are welcome to sit in the audience and watch.  There is no admission fee.

3:20 pm               We will stay on the stage for the sight-reading portion since we are the last band of the day. 

3:45 pm               Load up the buses.  Students are able to ride home with their parents if they have a note.

5:00 pm               Arrive at SGCHS.  Bring the instruments inside off the bus.  You will be dismissed after the buses have been cleared. 

Announcements 3/3/19

1)  Jazz Band will meet Tuesday from 3:30 to 4:30.

2)  Booster meeting this Thursday at 6:30.  With the April  meeting mostly filled with the Fall Season kickoff, we need to look ahead and prepare for the next couple of months, including the Band Banquet and Parades logistics.  Guard, we will also be going over the Mother/Son Luau fundraiser that is specifically for the Guard.

3)  We will be attending Concert Festival this Friday at UT Martin.  We will be loading the buses and leaving at noon right after 1st lunch.  Make sure you wear concert attire on Friday at school and then everyone will eat 1st lunch.  We will be getting back Friday afternoon after school.  I will get a full itinerary done as soon as I can this week as I get a couple of details ironed out.  Parents are welcome to come watch us play.  Admission is Free for the prepared music but you will not be able to go into the room where we do the sight-reading.  Students are able to ride home with their parents as long as I have a note signed by that parent.
