Itinerary for WTSBOA/Liberty Contest

Saturday, September 26^th, 2015

 

8:00 am Be on SGC practice field with instruments for a short rehearsal.  Beginning of the show.

9:00 am                Load instruments, use restroom, get on bus. Make sure that you have any money that you might need, black socks, your instrument, and clothes to wear when you change out of uniform.   

9:30 am                Depart SGCHS.

10:00 am              Arrive at Liberty. Eat snacks and drink water while props are being put together. Guard will put on make-up.  You may choose to go watch some bands, also.

11:20 am              Start putting uniforms on.

11:55 am              Line-up, receive plumes and travel to warm-up.

12:05 pm              Warm- up in area A.

12:35 pm              Travel to Stadium.  Keep your chin up and shoulders back the entire time.  Look proud!

12:45 pm              Perform.

1:00 pm                Arrive back at bus, put instruments in cases.  Seniors will keep uniforms on to accept trophies, and go immediately back into the stadium for awards. Everyone else, leave your band pants on, put your jacket on the hanger, put your plume with your hat in the hat box, and go back into the stadium.  Everyone must be back inside the stadium by 1:20 for awards. 

1:20 pm                Award Ceremony.  We will clap and support everyone as the awards are handed out.  There will be absolutely no booing or loud negative responses. 

 

* We will have to leave the stadium and come back in between the contests so the workers can clean the stands for the evening competition. We will use this time to relax and eat snacks provided by the Boosters.

 

3:00 pm                Evening contest begins.  You can go into the stadium and watch bands/eat concessions.  Do not travel alone!

5:05 pm                Start putting uniforms on.  This means you will have to leave the stadium after Peabody performs.

5:50 pm                Line-up, receive plumes and travel to warm-up

5:55 pm                Warm-up in area A.

6:25 pm                Travel to Stadium. Keep your chin up and shoulders back the entire time.  Look proud!

6:35 pm                Perform.

6:50 pm                We will march off the field and lineup behind the endzone for the Awards Ceremony.  Leaders will accept awards. 

8:00 pm                After awards we will take uniforms off and put them on the racks, load instruments and props, and clean up the area around our bus.  After all this is done, we will load the buses and go home.

9:00 pm                Arrive at SGCHS.  Everyone will help put the equipment in the correct place.

9:30 pm                After everything is put up correctly, the band will be dismissed to go home.

 

Announcements 9/13/15

1)  The $175 deposit for the Disney trip is due in the mail to Thomas Tours by tomorrow (Monday).  Make sure you get this in if you are planning on going on the trip.  Remember if you raise enough money through fundraisers, you will get that money back.

2)  Work day on Monday.  I will be staying after school, so get there just whenever you can.  I want to finish these props so that we can start practicing with them on Tuesday.  Part of the plan includes painting, so come prepared for that.

3)  Report time for Friday is 5 pm right now.  If anything changes due to Homecoming, I will let you know.  

4)  Remember that the night rehearsal is not this Tuesday, but next Tuesday the 22nd from 6:30 to 8:30.  That means we will not have our regular 3:30 to 5:30 rehearsal that afternoon.

5)  We still need lots of sponsors for the Hornet Invitational programs and trophies.  The two Grand Champion trophies are already taken, but pretty much everything else is open.

Friday, September 11, 2015

5:15 pm – Report to Band Room, put on uniforms.   Use the restroom before we leave.

5:40 pm – Load up on to your assigned bus.  Chaperones will call roll.

5:45 pm – Depart SGCHS.

6:15 pm – Arrive at Trinity’s Stadium.  Chaperones, leaders and Percussion will get off the bus first to unload the trailer and box truck.  Get your instrument case, and line up.  We will march in with cases and unpack when we get to the stands. 

7:00 pm - Game Begins.  Pay attention to the game, cheer for the team, act in a professional manner.  Be ready to play pep songs at any time.  NO CELL PHONES!  Remember the requirements for food and drink during the 3^rd quarter.

9:45 pm - Approximate end of game.  Line up and march back to buses.  Take your instruments to the truck to be loaded and then load the buses.

10:30 pm - After all equipment is loaded and students are on their assigned bus, we will depart.

11:00 pm – Arrive at SGCHS.  After instruments and uniforms are put up properly, you will be dismissed as a group. 

Announcements 9/6/15

1)  We will have work days this Tuesday and Thursday and 6:30 to hopefully finish the props.

2)  Away game this Friday at Trinity.  Report time will be 5:15 pm, we will depart the school at 5:45.   A full itinerary will be available Tuesday.

3)  The afterschool rehearsal for Tuesday, September 22 will now by a night rehearsal so that we can practice with the props for the competition that week.  We will not rehearse from 3:30 to 5:30 that day.  Instead, we will rehearse from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on the football field. 

4)  We need more water donated.  We used the last of the water this past Friday night and will need more for the upcoming games and even the competitions when they start at the end of this month.

5)  We will be taking pictures in our uniforms this Friday during class.  You have the option of taking an individual picture to order from the photo company.  You are not committed to ordering those pictures until you see the proofs.  I will try to get prices by the end of the week.

Announcements 8/30/15

1)  We will have prop work days on Monday and Tuesday this week at 6:30 at the Band Room.  Thanks to those who have come out and worked!  If you haven't been there yet, we welcome you to join us at any time.  We are trying to get it done in the next 4 work nights.

2)  Booster meeting Thursday at 6:30 in the Band Room.  We will be discussing the Hornet Invitational among other things.

3) Decision Time.  If you are planning on the Disney Trip, your first deposit is due by Sept. 14.  Checks need to be made out to Thomas Tours and sent straight to them.  This first deposit must be paid with your money, not fundraising money!  Later, if your fundraising money exceeds what you need, you will get that money back in cash.  More info and Thomas Tours contact information can be found in the Band Room.

4)  We will wear uniforms for the first time this Friday!  The rules for uniforms will be expanded on this week.  The bottom line will be that (1)we must all look the same (Uniform) and (2) we must take care of our uniforms.  Be prepared to follow the expectations of wearing the uniform, because there are very good reasons for everything that is asked.

5)  Home game vs. JCM this Friday.  Report time will be 6 pm in the Band Room.  Parents, I will need a few volunteers to help with minor adjustments to uniforms from 6 to 7.  Game time is at 7:30 pm.

6:30 pm – Arrive at Obion County’s Stadium.  Chaperones, leaders and Percussion will get off the bus first to unload the trailer and box truck.  Get your instrument case, and line up.  We will march in with cases and unpack when we get to the stands.  You will be able to put your instrument in your case for safe keeping during the 3^rd quarter.

7:00 pm - Game Begins.  Pay attention to the game, cheer for the team, act in a professional manner.  Be ready to play pep songs at any time.  NO CELL PHONES!

9:45 pm - Approximate end of game.  Line up and march back to buses.  Take your instruments to the truck to be loaded and then load the buses.

10:30 pm - After all equipment is loaded and students are on their assigned bus, we will depart.

Announcements 8/23/15

1)  Report time for Friday's Obion County away game will be 5 pm.  We will depart at 5:30.  A full itinerary will be available tomorrow.  Dress will be the same as the previous two performances.

2)  A reminder to get all sponsors for the trailer in ASAP. Sponsors for the Hornet Invitational still have a few weeks. The form was posted on the facebook page a couple of weeks ago, and is also available on the website southgibsonband.blogspot.com.

3)  We will be working on the props again Monday night starting at 6:30 pm.  Thanks to all of those who have come out so far to help out!
