The band students were there having a good time, and the people who showed up to Zumba got treated to some glow in the dark fun! I think it is a great event, and a great way to involve the community in our fundraising efforts. &lt;br /&gt;1) Half of the band is playing in the Basketball game Tuesday night, January 17, and the other half of the band will play at the Jan. 31 game. I have a sign-up list, and the students got to choose which game they wanted to play at. They had the option of signing up for both games if they wantedReport time for both games will be 5:45. We will dismiss after halftime of the boy's game, which will be approximately 8:30 pm. Students need to wear school colored clothing. &lt;br /&gt;2) Students are choosing solos and ensembles for the Ensemble concert on Feb. 23 at 7 pm in the cafeteria. Mark this date on your calender&lt;br /&gt;3) Jazz Band will start next Monday, January 23. It will meet every Monday afternoon from 3:15 to 4:30. This is optional for anyone who wants to expand their horizon and play some good Jazz music. Everyone was complimentary of how they sounded, and I am proud of how professionally they behaved. When there was a lot of down time, they did not get out of hand, and in the rush of getting out on the street and starting the parade, they were ready to go. They continue to grow as performers!&lt;br /&gt;1) We have Afterschool rehearsal from 3:15 - 5:00 this Thursday, Dec. 8 for the Concert. &lt;br /&gt;2) The Christmas Concert will be next Monday, Dec. 12 at 7:00 pm. Students will need to report to the Cafetorium stage at 6:15. Concert attire is dressy - khaki pants with collared shirts (ties are not required), please no tennis shoes. If the girls wear dresses, make sure they are conservatively cut and go past the knees when they are seated. &lt;br /&gt;3) We will have an end of the marching season party immediately after the concert. Percussion and Guard are asked to bring drinks, and band members are asked to bring finger foods. Everyone is invited to stay for this fun time to hang out and reflect one last time before we start the new year.&lt;br /&gt;4) The Breakfast with Santa fundraiser is this Saturday from 8:30 to 10:30 am. Students are asked to be there by 8:00 to help serve, clean, and be Santa's helpers. Also, Percussion and Guard members are asked to bring candy canes and the Band is asked to bring $2 by Thursday so that we can go out and buy the Pancake mix and Sausage. &lt;br /&gt;5) We still need a few more cans for the Band Christmas Tree. The students will need to be at the band room at 2:00, and the parade will start at 4:00. We will be toward the end of the parade. They will need to bring a Santa hat to wear and black socks to wear with their uniforms. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2) We are collecting canned goods underneath the Band Christmas tree. We will donating these cans to a good cause, and also be participating in the BETA club canned good creation contest, where we will be building an object out of the canned goods. We will be doing that on December 13, so if you want to donate some items, please have them in by Dec. 12.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3) The Breakfast with Santa pancake breakfast is next Saturday, Dec. 10 from 8:30 to 10:30 am. The students have tickets to sell, and we will need a lot of help to get the pancakes cooked and served. I think they have been performing at a high level for the last 3 weeks, but the results just haven't gone their way. Such is the way of Marching Band competition. Still, I think they were gracious winners, and I think they deserved bit of it!&lt;br /&gt;1) It may be too late of a reminder now, but tonight (Monday) is SGCHS Band night at Papa's Pizza. 10% of all earnings go toward the band.&lt;br /&gt;2) This Friday is the Westview game. We will not use props. The game starts at 7:30 this time, so the report time will be 4:00 pm for Guard, 5:00 for Band. We will depart at 5:30, and get back around 11:45 that night.&lt;br /&gt;3) Next Tuesday's rehearsal will be a night rehearsal from 6-8 pm. I am doing this so that we can have some band director's around the area come and critique as we get ready for the State Competition on Nov. 5. I will send out an email later tonight that will go over the specifics of the State Competition, since this will be a totally different animal than any of the other competitions. &lt;br /&gt;4) Next Thursday will be the final afterschool rehearsal for the marching season. It will be the standard 3:15 to 5:15 rehearsal. &lt;br /&gt;5) The Booster meeting that is usually scheduled for the first Thursday of the month has been moved to Tuesday, Nov. 8th. &lt;br /&gt;6) If the playoff game next Friday night is somewhere close, like Milan or Jackson, we will go and maybe leave after the 3rd quarter. That just proves what I already knew about us having the hardest working parents in the business!&lt;br /&gt;1) Report time for this Friday is 4:30 for Guard, 5:30 for Band. Seniors need to report with their parents to the Football field at 6:15 to get ready for the Senior Night recognition. Senior band members will be wearing the Band uniform without the hat. We will not be using the props again on Friday night, nor working concessions, so parents will be able to watch the show from the stands.&lt;br /&gt;2) Report time for Saturday's Huntingdon competition is 2 pm for Guard, 3 pm for Band. We perform at 7:30 pm. Awards are at 9:15, which means we will be getting back to the school around 11:00 or 11:30 pm&lt;br /&gt;3) We will be eating supper when we arrive at Huntingdon. I need Brass players to bring lunch meat, Woodwind players to bring drinks, Guard to bring dessert cakes, and Percussion players to chips. Last week, we had a lot of students that did not bring what they were responsible for, which meant that we had to have a few parents go out and buy some of the food so that we would have enough for everyone. This week I will have a checklist that will keep up with who has brought what they are responsible for. If a student forgets to bring their assigned food, I will ask for $2 to cover the cost of buying the food. &lt;br /&gt;4) Remember that next Monday, October 24 is SGCHS Band day at Papa's Pizza in Milan. 10% of all earnings from that day will go to support the band. We need 8 people for the 1st half and 8 people for the 2nd half. I will send out a more detailed email that will include what half you are working so that you can plan accordingly. The concessions need to get started by 5:30. &lt;br /&gt;3) I also need 4 people to sell the Pom-Poms and Lanyards at the gates.&lt;br /&gt;4) We will be using friends/siblings for props Friday night, not parents. However, I will need parents again to do the props at the contest Saturday.&lt;br /&gt;5) Report time for Saturday is 8:30 am for Guard, 9:45 am for Band.&lt;br /&gt;6) We will start the Fruit sale this Thursday, Oct. 13. We have a Band Booster Meeting tonight at 6:30 pm. Normally, this meeting is on the first Thursday of the month, but at the last meeting we decided to change it to Tuesday since we have the football game on Thursday.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1) The report time for Thursday's game is 2:30 for guard, and 3:30 for Band/Percussion. We will depart at 4:15 so that we can get there in time to practice with GC's band. We will be performing the National Anthem as a combined band before the game that night. I understand that this will make it difficult for some of you to ride to the game with us. Get there when you can, because we really don't have to start setting up the front ensemble and props until around 6 or even 6:30.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2) The report time for next Saturday's Trenton contest (October 15) is 8:45 am for Guard and 9:45 am for Band. We perform at 12:45, and the Awards ceremony will be at 3:15 pm.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3) We will be working the concessions again for the Haywood county game. We will need to have the concessions started by 5:30. We will need to have around 8 signed up. I want to have 8 parents signed up per half so everyone can watch part of the game. Please, if you have been unable to help up until now, use this opportunity to help out so that some of the other parents that worked the other game can watch this game. We will have no responsibilities at the last game against Crockett Co. We will also need a couple of parents to sell the pom-poms at the beginning of the game.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4) I have yet to receive our performance time for the Huntingdon contest, but it should be an evening contest. We will not have a competition on the weekend of the 29th. Prepare for the state competition on Nov. 5th to be an all day event. I think the kids are doing great! We got those trophies on Saturday, and when I looked at our overall score, we were 8th out of 20 bands in the small division. Actually, it is two performances. The first will be the WTSBOA Marching Festival. This will not be a contest, but a ratings festival. This means we will not receive 1st, 2nd, etc. Instead we will receive a rating of I if we are superior, II if we are excellent, III if we are good, IV if we are poor. The second will be the Liberty Invitational. This will be a contest. There will be 6 bands in our class, and 4 in our division. A class is made up of bands close to the same size, and they usually give awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place band in a class. A division is made up of 2 or more classes. They usually give awards for 1st and 2nd place percussion, guard and field commander in division. Then they give an overall grand champion in a division. With 6 bands in our class and 10 in our division, we will have to perform at our best to receive a trophy.&lt;br /&gt;1) Report time is 9:15 for guard 10:15 for band. We will depart SGCHS at 10:45. WTSBOA performance time is 12:45 pm. Performance time for Liberty Invitational is 6:25 pm. We will be arriving back to SGC around 10:30 pm.&lt;br /&gt;2) I have a few parents signed up to chaperone and help with pit crew/props. It would be great to have 4 or 5 more. The people who travel with the band will get in for free. All others will have to pay the gate fee to get in and watch the events.&lt;br /&gt;3) We will be cooking hot dogs after the first performance for the students to eat lunch. They will need to eat supper in the concessions area in the stadium. We will need a few things to go with this lunch, and I want the kids to help provide some of the food. I will need all woodwind instrument players to help bring hot dog buns and some fruit (bananas, apples) . All brass players are responsible for Chips and Little Debbie dessert cakes. Percussion need to bring some type of drinks (water, cokes, gatorades) Guard need to bring paper plates, napkins, and condiments. &lt;br /&gt;4) Uniform reminders: No jewelry, no make-up, hair needs to be tucked into the hat. We will change out of our uniforms between performances, so they need to bring (or wear) a change of clothes to wear while watching other bands. They may need a jacket that evening.&lt;br /&gt;5) The chaperones job during the competition is to keep an eye out and make sure that no student is behaving improperly, or walking around by themselves. They will join us for the National Anthem and pep songs.  I think they will be pumped for band after this experience!2)  We are doing concessions!  I need as many parents there as I can get.  All we do is show up, throw the burgers on the grill, and sell the food.  We do not have to buy the food or plan in any way.  I just need people to man the stations.  It will take about 10-12 parents (a lot at the main concession, and at least two at the drinks-only Pepsi trailer they are bringing in for this game).  My goal is to have about 24 parents sign up - that way we can switch out between halves.  I realize this means some of you will not get to see the field show, but there will be plenty of shows later (and they will be cleaned up by then).  I will have one parent recording the show from the pressbox, and I will put that on youtube or the website ASAP so that you can see it.  Besides, a lot of bands have to do concessions at all the game, including buying the food and preparing everything, so this isn't really that bad.3)  I still need 4 parents to sell pom-poms, 2 at each gate.  I have ordered orange pom poms that we will sell with the blue ones this Friday night4)  We will be doing the full show with props Friday night.  I will need 8-10 parents to help carry them on and off the field ( I will also accept little brothers and sisters and friends, etc.)  For this reason, &lt;b&gt;I am changing Thursday's rehearsal to a night rehearsal from 6-8 pm&lt;i&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/b&gt;.  We will not have an after-school rehearsal from 3:15 to 5:15, we will only have the one that night.  We need this so that the parents who plan on helping with the props can know what to do.  We will not have another performance before the first contest since next week is the bye week for the football team, so I want to go ahead and get the logistics as organized as possible for this performance.As you can see, I am going to need everybody and then some. I have finally received the schedule from UTM.  We are one of 8 schools that were chosen to participate in this, so I hope that everyone can still make it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Our time is going to be 9 in the morning.  We will have to leave SGCHS by 7:45 that morning, and will be leaving UTM at 1:15, which means we will get back here at 2:15. Jones is a Mary Kay representative and has offered to let us sell out of her catalog to raise money for the New York trip.  Each student will receive a catalog and instructions on how to collect/turn in money.  Each product will have a 40% profit margin, and on this particular fundraiser, all of that profit will go toward that student's New York trip account.  That means if a student sell $200 worth of Mary Kay items, $80 will go toward their account. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;They have from now until a month before the trip (the trip is in April) to sell these items. Drumline take stands to the bleachers.  Front Ensemble load trailers and roll them to the front of the stadium.  Field Commanders get the podium to the front of the stadium.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;6:45 pm - Run-through the Star-Spangled Banner and pep songs.  When we get done, you may carry your case to the bleachers so that you can safely store your instrument during the 3rd quarter.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;7:15 pm –Walk quietly and orderly to the field to prepare to play the National Anthem.  The Band Room will be locked.  You need to take any money you may need for the 3rd quarter with you.  Leave your cell phones either in the Band Room or with a parent.  Cell phones are not allowed in the stadium when you are with the band! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;7:25 pm – Perform the National Anthem on the field in the Band Room Set-up.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;7:30 pm - Game Begins. As we start the full day tomorrow, here are some things to remember:&lt;br /&gt;1) We will not go outside every day during class, but you need to be ready to go outside any day.  You need to have a change of clothes and whatever else you might need to go outside during class.  During Afterschool rehearsals, we will be outside every time.&lt;br /&gt;2)  Don't forget that having instruments, music, and a pencil during class is part of the grade - don't leave them at home!  Also, After school rehearsals, Football Games and Competitions account for nearly half the grade.&lt;br /&gt;3)  The first playing test will be next Tuesday - Dies Irae memorized.  For Guard, I will expect to see the routine for a grade.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Remember our first Afterschool Rehearsal is this Thursday from 3:15 to 5:15.  I am asking for the  Front Ensemble members to stay for a while after that to have a little fun while they paint the trailers that we will use to transport the equipment to the football and rehearsal fields. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Remember Next Tuesday, August 16 is a big day - the big New York Trip meeting in the SGC Cafetorium at 6 pm.  A representative from Thomas Tours will be there to answer any questions you may have.  You are not committing to the trip, this is simply a question and answer time. One in the morning and one in the evening.&lt;br /&gt;Friday, September 30 - Away vs. Obion Co&lt;br /&gt;Saturday, October 1 - Contest at Gibson County (afternoon/evening)&lt;br /&gt;Thursday, October 6 - Away vs. Gibson County&lt;br /&gt;Friday, October 14 - Home vs. Haywood Co&lt;br /&gt;Saturday, October 15 - Contest at Trenton (morning/afternoon)&lt;br /&gt;Friday, October 21 - Home vs. Crockett Co&lt;br /&gt;Saturday, October 22 - Contest at Huntington&lt;br /&gt;Friday, October 28 - Away vs. Westview&lt;br /&gt;Saturday, November 5 - Division II State Competition (all day)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Remember, all of these performances will count as grades.  But more importantly, these are why the students work - to perform.  If there are ever any conflicts, please let me know ASAP.  I require at least 2 weeks notice for a football game and a month notice for a contest so that I can make any adjustments needed to the marching show.  That's the thing about band - they are all Starters, no bench players.  If one person is missing, it affects the entire look and sound of the show. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You will notice that there is no game on Sept. 23, and no contests on Oct 8 (Fall Break) or Oct. 29.  Finally, November 4th could be a possible 1st round playoff game for the football  team. The students who are here are working so efficiently!  We already have the 1st two songs on the field.  That is awesome!  The next 3 days will bring the heat indexes up, so we will probably be spending some more time inside working - when the heat index goes over 100, we go inside.  And, since we have gotten so much done in 2 days, it's really no big deal to spend a little more time inside than was originally intended.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1)  Please pay the band camp fees if you can this week!  I have staff that needs to be paid, field paint that needs to be bought, and T-shirts that need to be paid for (among many other things to come)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2)  There will be an exhibition this Friday for Family/Friends at 6 pm.  It will be at school - either on the practice field or in the Cafeteria, depending on the weather.  This is free, so invite your family and friends to come hear and see as much of the show as we can get done this week.  It will last about 15-20 minutes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3)  I had scheduled Tuesday and Thursday rehearsals the next two weeks from 4-6 pm.  Due to the heat, I am rescheduling those to 6-8 pm.  Those dates are July 26, July 28, August 2, and August 4th. For more info, go to dci.org.  Also, tomorrow - the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps, who are performing at that competition, will be rehearsing at Gibson County HS from 9 am to 4 pm.  If you want to go out there for a few minutes during that time and see how a drum corps rehearses, please feel free.  There is no price for admission, they just ask that you be respectful of the rehearsal atmosphere by not making a lot of noise. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Also, I am trying to find a date the 2nd week of July to meet with all of the Dads.  We need some welding work done to build the pit trailers, and some shelving work done in the new equipment trailer, and will need some general prop building work done for the Field Show.  Right now, I am looking at July 11 at maybe 7 pm for this meeting. Dress will be formal.  SGCHS Band students are free, but all other guests are $12 (12 and under are $10, infants are free).  I have a sign-up sheet in the band room for all the students to fill out.  Please remind them to sign up for themselves and all their guests. Here are some dates and other announcements to keep you up to date on what we are doing in the next week.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Thursday, May 5 - Band Booster meeting.  We will be discussing the Band Banquet, the Golf Scramble and a few other things for the next month.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Friday, May 6 - Strawberry Festival.  Band will report at 7:45 am to the Band Room.  They need to wear T-shirts, shorts, long black songs and their marching shoes.  We will eat lunch at the parade after we get through performing, so they need to bring some money for that.  We will arrive back at the school around 2:00.  If they are going to be riding home with their parents after the parade instead of with the band, I will need a signed note by the parent.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Monday May 9 - Wednesday May 11 after-school - Drum Major clinic and auditions.  Open to any band member currently in 9th-11th grades.  It will be $30 to attend the clinic and the audition.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Tuesday, May 10 afterschool - Drumline auditions.  Open to any percussion member currently in 8th - 11th grades.  They already have the audition materials.  I will be looking for 4 bass drums, 3 snare drums and a Quad player to fill next year's Drumline needs.  I will also need 8 - 12 people to fill the Front Ensemble for next year's show.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Thursday, May 19 during school - Leadership interviews.  Any band member currently in 9th - 11th grade can pick up the application. Students will put instruments back in cases, put full uniform on the hangers, and then load the instruments on the bus. Parents will inspect the uniforms to make sure they are on the hangers correctly.&lt;br /&gt;12:30 pm  Depart Trenton. The judges were very tough, and I can assure you we were the youngest band there.  This will only help us to get better as an ensemble as they listen to the judges comment on intonation and dynamic contrast, etc.  This will help us in both concert and marching band!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Ensemble Concert is this Thursday, March 17 at 6:30 pm.  They have 2 options for dress:  If they wear lots of green, I will be lenient as far as the T-shirts and jeans.  If the student does not want to wear green, I expect them in Concert attire.  Also, I will not need you to bring snacks this time.  Since the Chorus class is hosting a Coffeehouse immediately after the concert, Mrs. Hooper and the Chorus class are going to provide the food and will sell it Bake-Sale style as a small fundraiser for them.  The Band members are encouraged, but not required, to attend the Coffeehouse. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Finally, the Butter Braid Bread order forms go out today!  They have until March 30 to sell as many as they can. The students need to wear dress clothes because one of the criteria on the judge's sheet is "appearance", so make sure they have dress clothes when they come to school Monday morning.  We will leave the school on a bus around 12:30. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There has been a slight change in the itinerary.  Due to the limited number of buses available, our bus driver is going to have to drop us off at Northside High School, go run his afternoon route, and then come back and get us.  That means we will not be arriving back to the school until between 4:45 and 5:00. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you want to come and pick them up from Northside High School, I will need a note signed by their parent/guardian saying that it is okay.  After we perform, we will go back inside the building to watch some other bands perform.  If you want to come watch us play, that is also fine.  We will be performing at the Northside High School Fine Arts building (behind the main school next to the Football Field) at 2:40 pm. We wanted as many family and friends as possible to attend this concert, and we knew that many would stay away because of the impending weather.  More importantly, we decided that the safety of everyone traveling needed to be the final factor in the decision, and with the threat of flash floods, hail, and even possible tornadoes, it was clear to us that we needed to reschedule. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We have tentatively set the new date for Thursday, March 17 (St. Patrick's Day). Included in this summary is the pricing and an outline of what is included in each trip.  If your child is not in band this semester, but will be in band next year and will want to go on the trip, please have them find me to get a copy of this letter.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The trip is not required, but will be a fun time for all involved.  Any student involved in band in Fall 2010, Spring 2011, Fall 2012, and/or Spring 2012 is invited to go on the trip.  Parents are also invited. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I will be asking for votes over the next month, and based on what I hear, I will make an announcement at the March 3 Booster meeting on which trip we will attend. Obviously, that is significantly sooner than the projected Dec. 15 date.  But if there are 3 or 4 parents that could come to the school during the day to help organize, I would have a lot of band students to help unload. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here is one thing to keep in mind.  The truck is planning on getting to the school at 10:30, but there will be Testing going on until around 11.  So I will tell the front office ladies to tell the truck driver to wait outside until the testing is done.  That means we will not start unloading the truck and organizing the fruit until 11:00. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Everyone else can pick up their fruit orders from the band room anytime the next couple of days. They looked good, played good, and did what they were supposed to when they were supposed to do it.  I can't ask for anything more.  A special props to the Guard for making up their OWN routine for this parade.  Awesome!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now the uniforms need washed.  Yeah, they stink.  If you would be willing to take a uniform or 2 home to wash, it would make it a lot easier than 5 or 6 parents taking 10 uniforms home. It is really easy - you take the white sash in the middle of the uniform off, put the rest of the uniform in the washer with COLD water, detergent with NO bleach, and no fabric softener, and hang to dry.  And the guantlets have to be hand washed while keeping the velcro dry.  I have copies of the company's washing instructions in the band room if you want more detailed instructions.  I, and the students, would greatly appreciate your help in this!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;P.S. Everyone student should have at least one order form and a goal in mind.  I am asking that each student try to sell $265 worth of fruit.  It is important that we do well on this fundraiser as most, if not all, of the money will be going toward purchasing a large enclosed trailer to transport equipment to games, competitions, parades, etc.  To help motivate the students, I am initiating 2 competitions for this fundraiser:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1) An individual competition - 1st place individual sales (dollar amount) gets $30 cash. 2nd place gets $20, and 3rd place gets $10.&lt;br /&gt;2) A team competition - the Band is split into 5 teams of 9 members. During this time, if you have any ideas for other fundraisers that you would like to head up (small ones like selling Mary Kay products or a yard sale or something) let me know and we will keep the fundraisers going throughout the year. Leaders leave uniform on.  &lt;br /&gt;6:55 pm After Peabody’s performance, Go back and watch band, eat supper. (Leaders will need to let a parent hold jackets and Gauntlets while you eat).&lt;br /&gt;8:10 pm Award Ceremony.  We will clap and support everyone as the awards are handed out.  There will be absolutely no booing or loud negative responses.  &lt;br /&gt;9:00 pm Load bus, go home&lt;br /&gt;9:30 pm Arrive at SGCHS. Remember the procedure for getting uniforms from the uniform room.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;5:35 pm Depart SGCHS, when we arrive at Medina Park, unload truck and go to warm-up area.&lt;br /&gt;6:00 pm Warm-up.  At 6:20 we will line-up on sideline to walk out to play National Anthem. &lt;br /&gt;6:30 pm Game Begins.  You will get the 3rd quarter off to eat, drink and visit friends and family.  You may take the jacket off and leave it folded neatly on the bleacher.  Water only, burgers or hot dogs with no pickles or condiments. I thought I had posted this earlier this week...)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Itinerary for Gibson County Contest&lt;br /&gt;Saturday, September 18th, 2010&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3:00 pm Guard report to school, begin putting on make-up.&lt;br /&gt;3:45 pm Band report to band room.  Load the equipment truck. Get uniform bag and hat box.  Do not put on uniforms yet.  We will carry them on the bus with us.  The plume box will travel on the equipment bus and they will be handed out when we start putting on uniforms.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Make sure you are wearing shorts and the Band T-shirt so that you can put on the uniform over the clothing you have on.  You will already have your band shoes on with your black socks.  Leaders will do a check to see if everyone has the correct clothing on.  Nick Wallace will have a checklist to make sure all equipment is loaded on the truck. &lt;br /&gt;4:15 pm Depart SGCHS.  You will have your uniform and hat box in your seat with you.&lt;br /&gt;5:00 pm Arrive at GCHS.  Leave the uniforms on the bus.  We will walk into the stadium together and watch a few bands perform.  We will sit together in the stands on the visitor’s side so that we all know when it is time to leave. During this time, you can eat your supper from the concession stand.  Do not walk anywhere alone!  You must have at least one person with you at all times when you travel.  If a chaperone sees you traveling alone, you will be assigned to that chaperone the rest of the time we are in the stadium.  Come back and sit with the band when you have your food.  &lt;br /&gt;6:20 pm After the performance of Ripley High School (or if the contest is running late, we will leave at 6:20 regardless), we will leave the stands together.&lt;br /&gt;6:30 pm Put on uniforms.  Ladies will dress first on the bus while the men unload the truck.  After you get dressed, get your instrument out, close the case and place it beside the truck so that it can be loaded back on the truck while we perform.  &lt;br /&gt;7:00 pm Line-up.  Plumes will be issued.&lt;br /&gt;7:10 pm  Travel to Warm-up area.&lt;br /&gt;7:15 pm Warm- up.&lt;br /&gt;7:45 pm Travel to Stadium.  Keep your chin up and shoulders back the entire time. Last year, we made quite a bit of money on 2 basketball games.  So I asked Coach Hinson about signing us up for some football concessions, and he was glad to hear it because he was having a hard time getting some of the games worked.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So he told me today we are signed up for the Aug 23 game.  That's next Monday.  Could I get around 5 parents to volunteer to work the concessions that night?  Please let me know and I will find out the report time ASAP (it will probably be around 6 or so). Everyone else will receive them at the next rehearsal. Be sure to keep up with these, as they will be required to wear them at all football games and competitions.  These T-shirts  were part of their band camp fees, so there is no further cost for the shirts.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If any parents, family, or friends want a Band T-shirt, I will be selling them at cost for $10.  However, I need to send it all in on one order.  So I need to get the size of everyone that wants one - and the money! - by Friday, August 13th.  This way I can get them made in time for the first Home game on August 23.  I will have a sign-up sheet in the Band Room, or you can simply send me the sizes by email before you send the money.  Remember - sizes and money are both due by August 13th.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;By the way, please make all checks out to SGCHS or South Gibson County High School.  Do not put "Band". Band Camp is Thursday and Friday (July 22-23) from 8 am to 12 pm, and Monday through Friday (July 26-30) from 8 am to 5 pm.  Here are some things to remember:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We will be outside quite a bit.  Eat a good breakfast, bring water or gatorade to the school (please stay away from soft drinks, and absolutely no energy drinks).  Dress appropriately (white t-shirt, shorts, tennis shoes).  I suggest you bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and maybe an extra t-shirt or towel to put over your head while you are outside.  The 2nd week, lunch will be from 11:45 to 12:45.  You will have to take care of your own lunch.  Feel free to bring a cooler with sandwiches or other types of lunches. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Finally, Everyone needs a small notepad for band camp.  I want you to have the cheap small 3" x 5" notepads. (enough for about 30 people)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I will not set up snack tents, we will just have someone drive a cart around with the snacks and ask the players if they want a drink or snack.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have decided not to do anything Friday night.  It will not take us that long to do it Saturday morning.  But we will need to get there around 6 30 am.  There are two main times I need a lot of people: from 6:30 to 8:30 for set-up and registration, and from 12:00 -2:00 for lunch and take-down.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Schedule:&lt;br /&gt;6:30 am - set out sponsor signs, set up registration table and pavilion, stack snack cart&lt;br /&gt;7:00 am - Registration begins, hand out goody bags as players register.  Most players will pay at this time, so we will need Mrs. Reams with the receipt book (Thank you!)&lt;br /&gt;7:55 am - send players to their first assigned tee.  I will have these assignments ready by Saturday.&lt;br /&gt;8:00 am - Tournament starts.  We will need a snack carts constantly driving the snacks and drinks around.  We can do this in shifts if we need to.  From now until the end (approx 12:00 to 12:30), you can leave and come back if you choose. Load equipment on bus.  Put on uniform pants,  long black socks, and shoes (make sure your shoes have your name on them).  Wear shorts and T-shirt underneath.  Put uniform jacket and gauntlets on a hanger to put on bus with your hatbox.  No jewelry is allowed when the uniform is on, and all hair must be pulled up off the collar.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;8:15 am Depart South Gibson County High School.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;8:45 am Arrive at Bailey Park.  Students will get instruments off the bus, then get fully dressed, then put the cases back on the bus.  Chaperones will be there to help you get dressed and to make sure everything gets put back on the bus.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;9:15 am Line-up in Parade set and warm-up.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;9:30 am Parade begins.  We are the 7th band in the parade.  Be focused on representing the band and SGCHS with professionalism.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;10:45 am End of parade for us.  Students will put instruments back in cases, put full  uniform on the hangers, and then load the instruments on the bus. Parents will inspect the uniforms to make sure they are on the hangers correctly.  After everything is taken care of satisfactorily, you will be dismissed to enjoy the parade and eat lunch.  Make sure you bring spending money.  If you will be leaving with a parent I will need a signed note by that parent.  While you are enjoying the rest of the parade, remember that you are still ambassadors of SGCHS and the band!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1:45 pm Report back to bus and depart Humboldt.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2:15 pm Arrive at SGCHS Band room. This is an event that kind of got put in front of us that I think can really be beneficial, not only monetarily, but also in community support.  I want this to be an event, not just a fundraiser.  The Band will play the national anthem, one of our students will throw out the ceremonial first pitch, and we will be recognized over the sound system during the game.  Friday, May 21 will be "South Gibson Band" night.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I also want to take this opportunity to go ahead and let the 8th grade band have the opportunity to join us.  In my mind, I already consider them to be a part of the band since they will be only a couple of short weeks from finishing middle school by then.  I want them to play the national anthem with us, and sit with us in the stands.  I will present this to the boosters at their meeting next Tuesday.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Remember as you sell the tickets, tell the people we want as many people from the South Gibson community as possible so that we can have a great time in fellowship with friends.  Tickets are $10, they are for the green reserved seats, not the bleacher seats, and the tickets will be picked up at will call the night of the game. Be sure to encourage them as they use this chance to showcase their individual talent.  Next week, we will present our Spring Concert on Thursday, April 22 at 7 pm in the SGCHS Cafetorium.  The following week, on May 1st, we will participate in the Teapot Festval Parade. It will be at Diamond Oaks Golf Club in Trenton starting at 8 a.m., and I had to move the date to June 5 because that is the only time that they had to host it.  Next year, we can start earlier and maybe get Milan or Humboldt Country Clubs. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now, the first thing we need is sponsors.  Namely a Primary Sponsor.  If you know of a business (or individual) who would be willing to donate $1000 to the band, we would put their name and logo on all pre-tournament advertising, such as flyers and any radio or newspaper announcements.  Also, we would advertise their business on 5 of the holes at the course.  All of this would increase public awareness about the company's corporate citizenship.  I really want a Primary Sponsor by the time we meet next week at the Booster Meeting.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We will also be looking for individual hole sponsors.  They will be $100 each.  Also, we will need items for goody bags and for door prizes.  If you know of anyone or any business willing to help out.  Please let me know or have them call me at 731-499-3888 or email me at southgibsonband@gmail.com&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Finally, we need people to play in the tournament.  It will be $50 per player/$200 per team. We have a Basketball game Tuesday, Jan. 5 and Friday Jan. 15.  These are graded performances for the band just like football games.  I need all students to wear the band button-up shirts and jeans. I have decided to cancel these rehearsals.  Everyone is in the same class at the same time, and everyone has been working hard on the Parade music, so there is no need to have these rehearsals.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The next Band Booster meeting is this Thursday at 6:30pm in the Medina MS Band Room.  I will be unveiling the Band Uniforms for next year, and we will be discussing fundraisers and voting in officers.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Christmas Parade is this Saturday, Dec. 5.  They need to meet downtown at 3 pm.
